Pathrode is a kind of soul loving food for Udupi-Mangaloreans. It is very special and unique recipe of Coastal Karnataka. During monsoons when the fresh colocasia leaves grow every nook and corner of this land, then every household prepares this delicious-ness. Traditional patrode needs some pre planning like soaking rice for few hours at least. But today I have brought the pathrode recipe that needs no soaking and no rice. In fact this Pathrode recipe uses semolina or rava. So very handy recipe and easy one too.
As the cravings for this delicacy begins the very moment pathrode can be whipped up. The spices, tamarind, jaggery and salt are ground together with coconut which is then mixed with semolina and chopped colocasia. Then it is steamed after shaping in to balls. Once the steaming is done, it is tempered with enough coconut plus jaggery. And there you are, pathrode with cup of tea.
