If you love dairy based sweets, then this milk peda is for you. Milk peda is basically made from milk and sugar. Sometimes to cut short the process, condensed milk is added. But in the milk peda recipe, I haven’t used any short cut methods. Milk alone is cooked till it solidifies and holds the shape of peda. So as you can imagine, the process is bit longer. But at the end when the scrumptious milk peda gets in to your mouth, you will feel worthy of your efforts. Yes, it’s that delicious.
I had posted doodh peda recipe couple of years back in which condensed milk was used. And this to begin the Diwali preparations, I started with this humble milk peda.
Few things to keep in mind when you make milk peda:
- Milk should be cooked in low flame as it begins to thicken. This is because, when the milk reduces it tend to stick to the bottom. And it results in burnt smell. You cannot speed up the cooking process by just increasing the flame.
- You can check for done-ness, by taking a small portion in hand. If you can easily roll it like ball and it’s not sticking to your fingers, then it’s perfect. Otherwise you have to cook more.
- You cannot leave the pan unattended once the milk reduces to half. Though seems difficult, it’s mandatory. So when you try this recipe, make sure you have enough time.
