Schools have closed for vacation, summer holidays are back and kids have indulged themselves either in camps, trips or art and craft. Summer takes me back to my good old childhood days and I am blessed to have spent my vacation in the arms of nature. In those days neither kids camped in tents doing various activities from sun up to sun down nor summer camps were glorified to this extent.
We packed few cloths and basic necessities and went to Grandma’s place and that is when our fun filled, adventurous holidays started. We were welcomed with open arms and wide smiles by grandma, uncle, aunty and cousins. Best part of vacation began early in the morning when we race to pick the mangoes that have dropped during night, ate some of the mangoes there itself while their juice dripped down all over our arms, watched grandma milking cows, we climbed trees and plucked cashew nuts, collected them over a period to sell it in shop, ate delicious food cooked by our grandma and aunts spread on a long banana leaves sitting cross legged in a row on red oxide floor. Our days were not planned or we had any routine set. It was more spontaneous and we did what we felt at that moment.
Fun..fun…fun. It was whole lot of fun which I remember so vividly even today! Trust me I have had all my lifetime mangoes during my childhood itself. When I made this mango juice for posting here, all those childhood days just passed by in front of me. Fresh mangoes are pureed in blender along with sugar, salt and dash of pepper powder makes a refreshing and rejuvenating drink. Easy, quick and vitamin C rich mango juice for you today.
