Happy Ganesha Chaturthi to all my blog readers and friends. I wish you happiness as big as Lord Ganesha’s appetite, life as long as his trunk and trouble as small as his eyes. 🙂
Today I have brought a Ganesha Chaturthi specific recipe which is more common in Udupi-Mangalore region known as Undulka/Undlka. Lord Ganesha is fond of laddus, modaka and undulka which is offered to him on this sacred day of festival. Celebration of this festival at my sweet home is not of excitement this year as all of us are down with fever and cough. I could prepare just minimum condiments and snacks for naivedyam, that too is not emptied because none of us have appetite.
But I had decided to post this recipe for you on this auspicious festival, so I insisted myself to sit in front of computer to type in the recipe. Undulka or undlka is very simple recipe that no one can go wrong with it. The only preparation required for the recipe is making fresh rice powder at home. If you dry up the washed rice under shade beforehand, then the recipe is really a breeze. I have not tried it with store bought rice powder, but I guess it can also be used. Undulka/undlka is pure white marble sized rice balls immersed in juicy coconut-jaggery mix and it is truly a divine tasting festive sweet.
Hope elephant headed God Lord Ganesha will bless you all and Enjoy the festival.

Note
- Do not wait for the rice dough to cool down for making balls out of it. Start making balls as soon as you switch off the flame.
