Huggi (Kara Pongal) Recipe in Udupi Style
Huggi (kara pongal) is a special dish prepared during Dhanur Maasa in Sri Krishna Matt Udupi. Dhanur maasa is a period when sun transits through sagittarius, it is usually observed during Dec 16th, 17th to Jan 14th,15th. All the ceremonies that are celebrated during this period will have huggi(kara pongal) as default dish in the feast. Huggi is usually paired with tangy and spicy tamarind gojju and it turns the plain, semi solid rice-lentil gruel in to delicious, mouth watering dish of the day. Today I will brief both huggi and tamarind gojju recipe.
