Friends, today some thing basic. Lets talk about something that every one learns while beginning their cooking journey. When you want to refresh yourself after a long day in work or when you need some instant energy to begin the day, you look for this beverage. TEA, isn’t it? So how can we make this simple beverage little interesting? Let’s spice it up and call Masala tea.
A cup of masala tea is always been a staple beverage in most part of India. And this simple tea has taken many forms over the years. Out of all, the basic creamy masala tea tops the list. I love a cup of hot masala tea to unlock the morning magic of my day. It has grated ginger, few crushed cardamoms and a piece of cinnamon as spices. Otherwise the tea has milk, tea powder, sugar and water as usual. To unwrap the best taste, I follow some basic rules in making masala tea. Like
- I make sure that water is rolling boiled along with tea powder i.e before adding milk.
- The spices like grated ginger, cardamoms and cinnamon are added towards the end not in the beginning. And it makes the spice flavors to be fresh in tea.
- The milk and water ratio is always 1:1, so that tea has right amount of creaminess.
Once in a while, I try to give a delicious twist to my regular tea. Like this badam tea (almond tea). The healthy nut, almond is been added to normal tea to bring in nutty flavors. Badam tea has some almond powder added to regular milk and boiled for couple of minutes to induce aroma. When this milk is used to prepare regular tea, it’s a taste heaven. The nuttiness of almond is what I admire in badam tea.
