Corn Flakes Mixture | Diwali 2017 Snack

Corn flakes mixture is an easy to make snack for all occasions.

Ingredients

  • Cereal corn flakes- 3 cups
  • Peanuts- 3 tbsp
  • Curry leaves- Few
  • Salt- 1/2 tsp or to taste
  • Red chilly powder- 1 tsp
  • Roasted gram- 3 tbsp
  • Cashews- Few

For kara sev

  • Gram flour- 1 cup
  • Salt- 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida- 1/8 tsp
  • Carom seeds- 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
  • Water- 1/2 cup
  • Cooking oil- Enough to deep fry

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl take gram flour, asafoetida, turmeric powder, carom seeds. Give a quick mix.

  • Adding water in steps, little by little make stiff dough. Fill the dough in to the kara sev press.

  • Heat oil in a heavy bottom wok/kadai, when it gets rightly heated press kara sev directly in to oil. When bubbling sound seizes, remove from oil and drain off excess oil.

  • Heat a pan with oil and peanuts. Saute for few minutes. Add in curry leaves, turmeric powder, salt, and red chilly powder. Saute till the spices mix up. Switch off.

  • Next add roasted gram, cashews, broken kara sev and corn flakes. Mix thouroughly.
  • Corn flakes mixture is ready to serve as Diwali snack.

Notes

  • I have used ready to eat corn flakes by Kellog's. It doesn't require deep frying. If you use original flakes, then you may need to deep fry them before using.
  • You can use little sugar also to the mixture tempering for the nice taste. I haven't added.
  • Peanuts and roasted gram enhance the taste of mixture, so use it generously.
  • Roasted gram easily gets burnt, so I added it towards the end and switched off immediately.
