Soppu palya and menasina saaru is the most common meal served to new moms after childbirth. Soppu palya is nothing but greens that are simply stir fried with onion. After childbirth, it is advised to eat less of spices and more of fibers and nutrients.

- 2 bunch Palak leaves
- 1 no. Onion
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Pepper powder
To Temper
- 2 tsp Ghee
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- few Curry leaves
Clean the greens and chop them finely. In a pan, add ghee, cumin seeds and curry leaves. Sauté till cumin turns bit brown.
Next, add chopped onion and sauté till turns translucent.
Add the chopped greens, salt and pepper powder. Mix well and cook covered.
Within 10 minutes, the greens would have cooked. Switch off and serve hot.
Soppu palya for nursing mothers is ready to be served.
