Chop sweet potato in to medium sized cubes. Slit the green chillies. Keep them aside.
Heat a pan/kadai add 3 tbsp of cooking oil, mustard seeds, urad dal, broken red chilly and curry leaves. When mustard seeds splutter add the chopped sweet potato cubes. Saute for a while.
Now add salt, jaggery, slit green chillies and turmeric powder. Saute well.
Add 1.5 cups of water and let it cook in low flame. Keep stirring in between for even cooking.
When sweet potato cubes turn almost mushy add grated coconut, give a stir and switch off the flame.
Sweet potato palya is ready to serve. Tasty evening snack with hot tea.....
